Retention… (next to the Student picker) → Scan. It removes the records of
students with no typing of any kind in 24 months, and shows when the next student could come due.
Then open Google Cloud Shell — console.cloud.google.com, the >_ button at the top right —
and run the sign-in account check below. A web page can't delete someone else's sign-in
account, so this step always happens there.
If it lists accounts, run it again with --delete and type what it asks.
A parent asks for their child's information to be deleted
Confirm through the school that it's really the child's parent or guardian.
Pick the student → Delete student… → type their email.
In Cloud Shell, delete their sign-in account (the one-student command below).
Reply within 30 days — the policy promises it.
A parent asks you to stop collecting
Disable the sign-in account (below). The student can no longer sign in,
so nothing new is saved; they can still type as a guest.
The leaderboard
When a student ages out through Retention…, their place on a board
stays — just their chosen initials, the score, the date it was set and their school — until it's
pushed off every board. A deletion request removes it along with everything else. Dates are
shown to you alone, beside each score on the board.
Once, now: scores set before dates were recorded have none.
stamps today on each of those, so none are lost. Safe to press twice.
The script only deletes a sign-in account once its
TypeThatBook records are gone and it hasn't been used for 24 months. Staff accounts are never
touched. It lists everything before it deletes anything.
LIBRARY POPULARITY
Powers "Most Popular" sorting on the library page. A book's score
is how many students have started it, counted from the
users/{uid}/progress documents the app already
writes — no new write happens when a student opens a book.
Costs one read per student plus one per book any of them have
opened, only when you click. A ranking a week old is not a
problem worth a live counter over.
Dry run counts and shows you the numbers without saving
anything. Show saved reads back what the library page is
actually sorting by right now. Recalculate does the count and
saves it.
